Criminal Investigations Unit

The Criminal Investigations Unit is responsible for conducting investigation on major incidents which require specialized or additional investigations. All investigators are experienced deputies with specialized training. The type of incidents investigations handles include murders, violent crimes, armed robberies, burglaries, property crimes, white collar crimes, and computer crimes.

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office has a certified polygraph examiner to assist in the investigation of illegal activity. The polygraph examiner is responsible for conducting polygraphs to assist investigations conducted by the “Georgetown County Sheriff’s” Office, conduct polygraphs for other law enforcement agencies and conduct polygraphs for employment at the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

Crime Scene/Evidence Unit

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene / Evidence Unit is responsible for collecting and managing the security and integrity of evidence secured by the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office. The Crime Scene / Evidence Unit responds to major crime scenes to collect and process evidence, and document the crime scene. Members of the Crime Scene / Evidence Unit are trained to the latest standards in collecting and processing evidence.

Drug Enforcement Unit/15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit Task Force (DEU)

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Drug Enforcement Unit is responsible for investigating illegal drug activity in Georgetown County. The Drug Enforcement Unit is part of the 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit Task Force(DEU), a narcotics task force staffed by Georgetown County Sheriff's Office Drug Enforcement Unit Deputies, and other 15th Circuit Law enforcement Agency Personnel.
