20-MONTH DEATH INVESTIGATION LEADS TO MURDER CHARGE
Monday, December 22, 2025

(December 15, 2025) Sheriff Carter Weaver has announced the arrest of Saul Jermaine Tyrese Epps, 25, of Williamsburg County this morning by Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office Warrants and Criminal Investigations divisions, assisted by Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office and the State Law Enforcement Division.
Epps is accused of the shooting death of Jamar Edward McClary, 25, of Salters during a confrontation at Arbor Place Apartments, North Beech Avenue, Andrews, on April 17, 2024. It initially appeared the shooting fell under the state’s “Stand Your Ground” law, however investigators obtained new information leading to enough probable cause for an arrest warrant.
He is being held in Georgetown County Detention Center on charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime pending a closed circuit televised bond hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Georgetown County Magistrate’s Office, 333 Cleland St., Georgetown.
Sheriff Carter Weaver said: “This demonstrates how a criminal case can change from a “Stand Your Ground” finding to a murder case when investigators practice due diligence and there is strong cooperation from witnesses and other members of the community.”
