National Night Out

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office participates each August in the Annual National Night Out hosted by Law Enforcement Agencies throughout the country. The Sheriff’s Office conducts the event as a way to interact with citizens and families in a safe and fun environment. National Night Out is a community building campaign designed to allow deputies and the public to participate in family fun activities and promote ideas on how to keep the community safe. Several of the activities are geared towards the kids including sports games, inflatable slides and face painting. Topics for discussion among the public and deputies include crime prevention awareness and participation in anti-crime programs.

The sheriff’s offices goals for the event include participants to have fun and enjoy themselves, strengthening neighborhood spirit and community-policing partnerships and sending a message to criminals that the neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime.
