Thursday, March 12, 2026

(March 5, 2026) Sheriff’s Deputies have captured Malik McBride, who ran from warrant service earlier today, resulting in a manhunt through the marshes behind the Church Street frontage road. Around 8:30 am, deputies responded to Motel 6 acting on a tip that McBride was there, but he took off on foot. Deputies and a SWAT team were deployed, with assistance from the Georgetown Police Department, Coast Guard, and Georgetown County Emergency Management. Deputies were eventually able to pinpoint McBride's location in the marsh near East Bay Park with a drone before moving in to capture him safely. McBride was wanted for two counts of Pointing and Presenting and one count of Felon in Possession of a Weapon.
