GUNSHOT WOUND INVESTIGATED

(January 21, 2026) Investigators have pieced together much of the evidence from a gunshot wound suffered by a local 17-year-old on Wednesday, January 21. The teen was dropped off at a relative’s house on Powell Road just before 4 pm with a gunshot wound to his thigh. Before losing consciousness, the victim claimed the wound was self-inflicted. He was airlifted to an area trauma center.

A witness confirmed to deputies that the victim was dropped off by unknown persons in a black truck of unknown make or model. After reviewing security camera footage, interviewing witnesses, and identifying the driver of the car that dropped the teen off, it appears that the wound was accidentally self-inflicted.
