Sheriff Carter Weaver has announced that charges have been filed against a student for making a threat at Rosemary Middle School today.

A 14-year-old was detained by deputies from Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office for typing a threat to blow up the school on his school issued computer. The threat was discovered by the Georgetown County School District’s online monitoring system, Lightspeed, and the school Safety Department and School Resource Officers were notified.

A search of the student's home did not uncover any bomb-making materials. He was released to his parents and will be subject to the School District’s disciplinary policy.

Rosemary Middle operated under normal conditions following the incident.
