THREE IN CUSTODY AFTER ANDREWS HOMICIDE

October 30, 2025: Sheriff Carter Weaver has announced two arrests and the identification of a third suspect in connection with a shooting that left one man dead and another wounded on West Main Street in the city limits of Andrews Oct. 4.
Georgetown County Warrants Division took Derrick Lamont Bright Jr., 24, into custody today for the shooting death of Jonathan Cooper, 21, of Georgetown and the wounding of a 22-year-old Andrews man near the intersection of West Main and Hazel streets, Andrews.
Shiameek Lajuan Alston, 25, of Salters, who is being detained at Williamsburg County Detention Center on unrelated charges, will be served with warrants related to the shooting. Both Bright and Alston will be charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office investigators have also obtained warrants for Jimmy Sandrilura Smith, 40, of Williamsburg County for accessory after the fact of murder.
He is considered armed and dangerous and a threat to the community. Do not approach. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should call Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at 843-546-5102.
November 4, 2025: Sheriff Carter Weaver has announced that a suspect in connection with a shooting that left one man dead and another wounded in the town limits of Andrews Oct. 4 has been transferred from Williamsburg County.
Shiameek Lajuan Alston, 25, of Salters, is being held in Georgetown County Detention Center on charges of murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in the death of Jonathan Cooper, 21, of Georgetown and the wounding of a 22-year-old Andrews man. The shooting occurred near the intersection of West Main and Hazel streets in the town limits of Andrews.
A bond hearing on closed circuit television will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Georgetown County Magistrate’s Office, 333 Cleland St.

Jimmy Sandrilura Smith, 40, of Williamsburg County has been charged with accessory after the fact of murder. He is being held at Georgetown County Detention Center.
Two other suspects have been charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in the death of Jonathan Cooper, 21, of
Georgetown and the wounding of a 22-year-old Andrews man. Shiameek Lajuan Alston, 25, of Salters, was taken into custody Tuesday, and Derrick Lamont Bright Jr., 24, has been in custody since Oct. 30.
Bond hearings on closed circuit television will be held for Smith and Alston today at 9 a.m. at the Georgetown County Magistrate’s Office, 333 Cleland St.
