Sheriff Carter Weaver is announcing the launch of fund-raising for the third annual
Georgetown County Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics.

The event will be Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at Litchfield Inn. Registration begins at 10 a.m.
with a costume contest at 11 a.m. and the plunge into the cold Atlantic at 11:30 a.m.
There were over 150 participants last February, and we hope even more folks will come
join the party this time!

Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, sponsors, and participants raised $68,000 at the
second annual event last February, three times as much as the inaugural Polar Plunge.

“Please join us in funding and honoring these deserving athletes,” Sheriff Weaver said.
“By plunging, you’re creating more opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities to experience the life-changing benefits of participating in Special Olympics – all at no cost to themselves or their families. Special Olympics serves more than 30,000 athletes in South Carolina.”

The Georgetown Polar Plunge is part of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run
campaign and 100 percent of the funds raised directly benefit Special Olympics
programs around our state.

Plunge participants agree to raise at least $50 from sponsors. To sign up, go to https://give.classy.org/GeorgetownPlunge
