CEREMONY CELEBRATES PROMOTIONS AND SWEARING-IN

September 9, 2026 Sheriff Carter Weaver presided over a series of promotions and the swearing in of a new deputy this afternoon. The ceremony was attended by family members and fellow members of law enforcement.
“Each promotion represents more than a new rank or title,“ said Sheriff Weaver. “It reflects hard work, dedication, leadership, and a commitment to serving the citizens of Georgetown County.”
Promotions:
• Deputy Gregory Sanders was promoted to Corporal of the Enforcement Division.
• Corporal David Law was promoted to Sergeant of the Enforcement Division.
• Corporal Gene Wilson was promoted to Sergeant of the Enforcement Division.
• Sergeant Brett Kowalewski was promoted to Lieutenant of the Enforcement Division.
• Sergeant Branden Baker was promoted to Lieutenant of the Enforcement Division.
• Sergeant Tiffany Kinloch was promoted to Lieutenant of the Community Engagement Division.
• Sergeant Eric Holtzback was promoted to Lieutenant of the Investigative Services Division.
• Lieutenant Jonathan Griffith was promoted to Captain of the Investigative Services Division.
• Lieutenant Chris Geno was promoted to Captain of the Enforcement Division.
Swearing-In:
• Deputy Christopher Cheuvront will join the Patrol Division.
