Carter Weaver, Sheriff of Georgetown County, has announced the recovery of a second man’s body from Sampit River near Carroll Campbell Marina as a result of a multi-agency search for boaters missing since Saturday.

The body of Kensley Johnson, 37, was recovered today. The body of Marquis Mickel, 35, was recovered Monday. Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson has requested autopsies at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol units discovered an area of interest in the search for the two missing boaters Monday, and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources responded with a dive team. Both bodies and a jon boat were found nearby.

Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the U.S. Coast Guard, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, Georgetown City Fire Department, Georgetown Police Department, Georgetown County Fire and EMS, Midway Fire Rescue and Georgetown County Parks and Recreation Department for their efforts in the operation.
