TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN SEIZURE OF 5 KILOS OF FENTANYL

April 22, 2026 Sheriff Carter Weaver announces the arrest of a Georgetown man and the seizure of five kilos of fentanyl after a traffic stop led to a narcotics investigation. Yesterday, deputies with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on an SUV on Hwy 17 south of Pawleys Island. The vehicle, driven by Orlando Sanders, failed to stop for deputies, resulting in a pursuit. The SUV ultimately hit a light pole and wrecked on Waverly Road and Sanders was quickly apprehended. Deputies found a kilo of fentanyl inside the vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Vice and Street Crimes Units obtained a search warrant for 130 Kaminski Street in the City of Georgetown. Inside the residence, deputies recovered more suspected illicit narcotics.
In total as a result of yesterday’s investigation deputies recovered:
-over 5 kilos of fentanyl
-over 1 pound of methamphetamine
-a half kilo of cocaine
-over 2 ½ pounds of marijuana
-137 grams of crack cocaine
-over 4 kilos of cutting agent
-$15,000
-1 handgun
-a hydraulic press
